(but that's OK!)

On a trip of just 92 days I don't know why you would need both a carry-on and a backpack. One or the other would be enough Lady1.
Actually, the longer the trip the more likely it is that the person will figure out you can't take everything with you that is in your wardrobe. I would never dream of carrying a jacket and tie when I travel. That word 'if' is responsible for more overweight luggage than any other word in the English language. For 'if' situations you need to pack one simple item. A credit card and you are 'good to go' if any occasion arises for which you feel you just must have something other than what you brought with you. |
"if' thinking is responsible for a lot of overpacking! Oh, it's not SO difficult for a woman to pack something "dressier", something small that will scrunch, but a jacket and tie? SO would rather eat nails than haul a jacket he will most likely not wear, or wear only on the plane.
But it depends where you are going, of course. |
My male friend I traveled with in Europe liked to have one 'sports jacket' with him, and yes he always wore it on the plane.

DH does use the jacket. We like to eat in nice places at times, go to the theater some and like to look nice. It's a personal preference thing. Just like I'm personally deciding to ignore some posts.

Hi Lady1,
Also as you start to pack and choose, look for pieces that have the same function, and don't take a lot of multiples (except for undergarments). You might want to have a sleeveless top, tshirt, 3/4-length sleeve, long sleeve, etc. but you don't needs 3 of each. If you take a sweater/cardigan, you only need 1 of them. Like that. Downsizing cosmetics and toiletries can be another real space and weight-saver. Don't take full-sized of anything. Only enough for the length of the trip. Plan to purchase along the way (like body lotion or soap) if you run out. |
