"The cubes keep me sane and save time. So it is personal. Like all travel stuff, it depends on what actually works for you."

I agree. It's personal and different strokes for different folks. However, had I never tried the cubes, then I wouldn't have known that they work out perfectly for me. Some travel items work for me/others and some don't and as posted above ,"...they are NOT a necessity" which goes without saying. But, a lot of items, rather travel-related items or not, are not a necessity, but many inventions/gadgets/items, etc have made folk's life a lot easier or more convenient for them so I don't see a big hoopla about trying out different items and if they don't work out, it's not the end of the world.

Happy Travels!

It also depends the kind of trip you are taking. I pack completely differently for a trip to Europe where I am visiting multiple cities by train, then I do for a Mexican beach vacation where I arrive and stay in one apartment for two weeks.

Well I received my packing cubes and absolutely love them.

It was neat to be able to compactly fit stacks of clothing inside, then be able to move the cubes around easily. They keep things organized, making it super convenient to find what I need.

My only regret is that I didn't order 2 sets.

Happy travels indeed :D

Boots, if there is any kind of luggage or travel store near you, they will probably carry several kinds. Even Walmart or Target might have some.

Thanks Sassafrass, but there won't be time for that before we head to airport. Another set would have been nice, but I'm quite happy with the quality of my packing :)

I'll just order another of the same set on Amazon for the next trip.

I also have some packing cubes that I bought at T.J. Maxx as the one near me carries some nice ones.

Happy Travels!

I use ziplocks because I can see instantly what is in them. Plus, if a ziplocks is needed, it's already handy.

I use zip lock bags for some things, and it may be splitting hairs, but the advantage of the cubes is they are basically a soft box shape so you can unzip almost all the way around and remove rolled up things more easily than from a bag. My packing cubes are see through on at least one side. Some are completely see though. Those are heavier than the nylon though, so I don't use them.
