Gardyloo, do you think airlines are going to deeply discount RTW tickets when things get back to normal? I would hope so. Do you have to use them in one year?

I doubt it, but nobody really knows. From talking to people in the business, the majority of RTW tickets are sold to business users, typically those with offices/facilities in various parts of the world. I once rode on a flight from Vancouver to London next to a guy who had to visit company offices in New York, London, Delhi, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney and Vancouver three or four times a year, so his firm generally bought 2 RTWs for him, one east-west and the other west-east so he could zigzag a bit (you can't double back across oceans on one ticket). I don't foresee that sort of business travel changing much once the pandemic is past.

They're already pretty cheap (depending on where you start and finish) if you're okay in coach, e.g. around US$2800 if starting in the UK for an economy 4-continent trip using Oneworld.

Yes, the tickets are good for 12 months from the first flight.

Wow, 2800 bucks is really good. My coach ticket to Japan was 3300 bucks and IIRC I paid 300 more to sit in E+ on the outward leg (wasn't available coming home). If I had a year when I knew I was going to travel a lot (which frankly, there have been some years recently when I was between jobs) that I could have gotten two directions myself and possibly broken even at least. Or at that time simply opened up where I was going to travel - keep it all in one direction but hit places I haven't seen yet.

Thank you for the reminder about these, will keep it in mind the next time.
