Not quite sure where to go yet...
Hi, this is my first time posting in any type of forum or anything so I apologize in advance.
So my boyfriend and I both grew up in families that love to travel so we have both been itching for a couples trip. We are struggling trying to find somewhere to go. We were looking at St. lucia, Belize, and Jamaica. However, I'm just not sure yet. Im up for any suggestions. We are looking for an all inclusive resort that young couples will enjoy. We love going out and doing stuff but also like just hanging by the pool/beach with a drink....or twelve drinks, in hand :P and meeting new people. Anyway, what I am looking for is suggestion on where to go, things to do while there, and any tips and tricks for when we would go. We have traveled a lot, but unfortunately never a large trip just the two of us. I am so excited for a 5-7 day trip with my baby. Any comments are helpful! Thanks in advance! |
Hi, welcome to Fodors. You did't do anything 'wrong' . . . but you did post on the more generic 'Travel Tips'. When you know what region(s) you want to visit it works out better if you post on those specific forums. See the 'Change Forum" pull down menu? click that and re-post on the Caribbean and/or Mexico/Central America boards.
There you can tag your thread for Jamaica, Belize, whatever. |
Hi.
Did you consider Thailand or Indonesia? |
If your interest is the Caribbean, post in that forum. Beach time and relaxing seems to be important, great for the Caribbean and Mexico.
With 5-7 days, you will want to consider flight times and not use up whole days coming and going. Don't know your budget, but it is important too. It can cost a bundle to get to some of the islands. So, look for places with direct or short flights from your location. I see suggestions for Asia and Europe, which doesn't work with a short time period, plus airfare is high. If you could stretch it to 9 days total, and you have a large enough budget, more is possible. When are you going? Spain, before it gets too hot would be fun and has great beaches. Ireland in summer could be wonderful for exploring, pubs, etc. There are even some great beaches, plus there are some good packages including airfare, car rental, etc. With 5 days, don't overlook Puerto Rico. It is beautiful with lots to do. You would not need to go with an AI. There are tons of interesting restaurants. Since you are interested in AIs, look at travelzoo for some ideas and packages. If Mexico interests you, there is another poster, Suze, who is quite an expert. Have you considered a cruise to places in the Caribbean? It would give you the AI (food, lodging, entertainment, pool, bars) but also allow you to see a different island everyday and explore, sail, swim, sit on a beach, zip-line, etc. You could do a 5-7 day out of Miami or Ft Lauderdale, cheaper and fun, but most do not go to very many islands. If you take a 7 day cruise from San Juan, they cost a bit more, but you can find one that goes to the Southern Caribbean, and go to five or more islands. One 7 day cruise we took, went to Barbados, St Kitts/Nevis, St Lucia, Tortola, St Thomas (St Johns), and Puerto Rico. If that might interest you, look at the website, vacationstogo. There are other good ones, but if you decided on that, you would want to post on the cruise forum. |
Indonesia is amazing. Stay out of Jakarta though, that wasn't exactly my idea of a paradise. Bali is fantastic on the other hand

whitechapel: Welcome to Fodors. Before topping threads it is a good idea to check the dates this one is 3+ months old (and the OP has never returned)
