If you are now considering Europe, this opens up a lot of possibilities. I mentioned Quebec City and Montreal as a budget alternative to Europe. Considering Europe, cafe life, fairly moderate summer weather, museums, and trips to the countryside, I would recommend Paris, with Vienna a close second. Both of these cities will far exceed your expectations.

As I am already doing a driving vacation to Nova Scotia this July I have decided to tack on a few days in Quebec City on the way home. Thanks for that suggestion!

Nantucket - Everything is historical and extremely well preserved. Be sure to stay in town. Great antique auctions weekly at Rafael Osno preview Friday Auction Saturday. Fabulous dining, extremely picturesque, Museums, Home tours, & beaches. Go to Bartletts Farm http://www.bartlettsfarm.com/index.php?id=3 on the way to Miacomet Pond is a must.
