Looking for suggestions for summer vacay

Hello,
We are looking for some suggestions for our family vacation this summer. We are a family of four, 2 adults (in mid 40s) and 2 kids, 14 and 10. Kids are very well traveled.

We have 7-8 days in late July.

We live in NJ. Budget is pretty flexible.

So far, considering Canadian rockies. But want few more choices.

We are not looking for beach vacation, preferably US or Canada.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks !
Kush

Fishing trip up in Canada sounds like fun.

The Canadian Rockies are spectacular. Spend some time on Lake Louise or in Banff.

Tanzania safari was rated best safari country in Africa on year 2015. Leisure tours for family destinations include comfort wildlife safaris 4 x 4 game drives.

Serengeti National park was voted best safari park in Africa in 2014. Wildebeest migration is one of main wildlife feature which is unique event and attracts many tourists. Safari Lodges offer best Family travel experienced services

Thanks for the responses !

Been to New England area multiple times. Not into fishing :(

African Safari is def on our list , but not enough time on hand this year. Don't want to squeeze in just one week.

Indonesia is too fat to fit in one week too :(

Still toiling with Canadian Rockies idea.

Any other thoughts ?

If you're thinking about the Rockies, consider taking the train across Canada one way - fun for the kids, great scenery, and you can spend time in Vancouver and/or Montreal as well as the Rockies. Get off in Jasper and rent a car, then get back on a later train.

thursdaysd, are you referring to Rocky Mountaineer or some other type of train ? We are thinking of visiting Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, if we do Rockies.

No, to Via Rail, the Canadian version of Amtrak (only better). The Rocky Mountaineer is out of my price range.

Hey Kush :)
This article has some pretty cool and original family vacation ideas, you might find some ideas in it bit.ly/Top10Vacations.
I know I'm always trying to come up with new stuff to do, though we always just end up back in Whistler for the most part cause it's close to where I live and, well, it's hard to go wrong with a place that beautiful :) I've been working on some plans for this summer too though and I thought some of the ideas in the article were cool. I really liked the idea of checking out small towns, something maybe out of the ordinary :) When we took our kids to Europe I swear our favorite places were the little towns:) Anyway, maybe it'll inspire you! Good luck :)

Hey again Kush! No prob :) We are heading to Whistler just this Saturday in fact :) If you ever do get up there I guarantee you will not be disappointed!!! ... well unless you are there when it's pouring rain :) We go up for skiing/boarding in the winter and downhill biking/hiking in the summer. It's pretty awesome. I totally want to explore more up north of the village at some point, there's apparently awesome natural hotsprings somewhere near Pemberton that you can hike in to.
Anyway, like I said, that's really my go to so I know the most in that area. I grew up in Alberta so skied near Banff at Sunshine and Lake Louise as a kid. I really love the mountains ... but I think I do need to come up with some more ideas for my family trips :) Hence I have been looking up stuff on it! My kids are teens now and I feel like I have to cram as much in as I can in the next few years before they leave the nest :) Loving these types of forums and all the great articles that I'm finding, sure helps get the ideas going :)
