I'm using lightweight luggage bag from Samsonite India. It is very stylish & I love my luggage bag. Used it on many trips and it's great.

Try Hammacher Schlemmer.
They hava a 3 1/2 pound one (I want to get one for myself) with a handle and wheels. I think it will fit your needs nicely. |
A fellow traveller reported that she found the suitcases with four wheels got caught in the cobblestone and rough walking areas in Europe. She's going back to her two-wheeled puller.

This is a very old thread. Many of us have switched to the 22" Lipault spinner, the absolutely IDEAL lightweight bag...in fact the amount you can fit in it is mind blowing. And no issues on dirt or cobblestone.

I just bought an American Tourister drop bottom wheeled duffel - 28 inches. It weighs 7 pounds. Has a stiff bottom on the duffel side so it stands up even when not stuffed full. It was $69 at Target. It has cinch belts, but not a lot of lose straps and handles. Just two close handles on top. It's narrow, has full length skids and the bottom is reinforced with light stiff plastic.
I think it's going to work well for 2 weeks in Europe, even if I do have to check it. I'm staying in one place most of the time. I'm only taking that and a regular sized backpack for my carryon - sticking a small cross body purse inside for apres-airport. But for the air, i have a very lightweight nylon sling. |
For bags I check,I think nothing beats the 4-wheel Rimowa polycarbonate bags. They open into 2 sides, are incredibly easy to pack, stretch incrediblly when you close them and last forever. They may be pricey, but have a lifetime guarantee. I have them in 2 sizes, sometimes check both. Then I take a very lightweight carryon with everything I need on the plane plus valuables (jewelry, medication, computer, headset, neckrest,Kindle, etc which I can usually put on the floor along with my handbag (I fly business).I used a Longchamps bag for this but just replaced it with a Lipault which I also use as a weekender if I am traveling light.
