Download offline maps on your phone. In case there is no connectivity.

Not too many clothes.

Trip tags with complete itinerary, flight numbers, reservation codes, and contact info for every stage incl. people at home who can be reached when you can't be reached. Stuff them into bags and into luggage tags that are not likely to get torn off.

Money bag or such, like those that hang from a belt loop inside your pants where your passport and such is safe - stuff that you don't need every five minutes.

An empty plastic thingie like those that the SD cards for your camera come in - you'll need it to keep your SIM card safe while you insert a local SIM card into your phone on arrival at your destination. Nothing worse than coming home and not being able to resort to normal because you can't find your regular SIM card.

Do not forget your "do not forget" list. You think I'm kidding, but so many people I've travelled with just make a mental note of things they have to bring and call it a day.

Your brain does magical things when you are about to leave your house for a trip. Ever forgotten your lunch for work? The exact same thing happens with passports, phones, wallets all the time for important travels.

So just make a list, physical or on your phone. Add even the simplest things. And make sure every single item is checked off, every.single.item.checked.off, before you touch the doorknob out.

Think I'm exaggerating?

I've got a couple of missed flights stories that prove otherwise.
