July 2012 Trip to Seattle
Planning a trip to Seattle with our 14 year old daughter. Would like to stay downtown.
Any ideas for an upscale hotel and some activities during our stay, day as well as evening activities? |
Welcome to Fodors Teri. You will want tore-post your questions over on the United States board, tagged for Washington. See the 'Change Forum' pulldown menu?
This board is more for general travel topics, not destination-specific discussions. |
The Westin is a good hotel in downtown that usually has some moderately good deals if you look around.
As for things you guys might want to do, consider "Seattle Underground", a tour of the old underground city before they paved over it. There's always the Mariners too. While they aren't doing that well this year, going to a game is always fun. |
Take a look a Fairmont Hotels..If you join their Pres. Club you can very often get super deals..The Olympia in seattle is one of them. It cost nothing to join and loyality clubs do really pay off..

I confess that, as a local, I haven't stayed there -- and I haven't checked their prices -- but I've always wanted to stay in the Alexis Hotel, which is lovely and well located. That might be a place to consider.

For truly "upscale hotels" downtown Seattle I'd include the Four Seasons, Alexis, Arctic Club, Hotel 1000, Fairmont Olympic, Inn at the Market, and Hotel Andra. The Sorrento Hotel is very elegant and special but a tiny bit outside the downtown core on 1st Hill. The Mayflower Park hotel is nice and an historic property but a bit more modest than the others mentioned. Olive 8 is a new hotel in a similar good location.

We got a great deal at the Fairmont, Olympia. Check their website often. We also liked the location.

I think Teri forgot she posted (or forgot how to get back here). I was hoping it was just that she had moved over to the US board, but no dice.
