how to get euros?

Can a person get euros using an ATM in an airport in the States before we go? I'm a little uncomfortable about getting off the plane in Nice and finding/using an ATM there.
Is using ATM better than going to the currency exchange booth at the airport? (I assume it is.)
In short, for people who don't travel much, and who, in fact, almost never use ATM, what's the best way to get euros-- preferably before we go?
(I called my bank, and they have to have them fed-exed to the bank, and they might not get here before we leave in 2 days.)
Thank you.

No, you can't get euros out of an ATM in the US.
Call your bank before you leave and let them know you will be using your ATM card in France.
You should have no problem using it in the airport, but if you are nervous, bring some US cash and exchange it in the US airport or on arrival. You will, however, pay more to do it this way than using the ATM.

You should be able to get euro from an exchange bureau at your departure airport before you get on the plane.

Or (since your home bank cannot get them quickly enough) is there a Thomas Cook type exchange office you can get to?

These do have fees and lesser rates of exchange than waiting until you arrive Europe and use your ATM at your arrival airport.

But if you want to have something in your pocket upon arrival, I'd just change $100 at the airport before you get on the plane.

You get a better exchange rate if you get your euros from the ATM in Nice airport. It is a good airport so you will have no problem. We usually get our currency this way in Europe.

Thanks for the replies.
We live in a small town, so nowhere to get euros near here. I suppose I will need just to lose some money and exchange about $100 into euros at the booth in the PHL airport. We definitely do not want to be bothering with an ATM when we get off the plane in Nice. For well traveled people, I understand this is no trouble at all. It would be not comfortable for us.

You can get Euros from the AAA I believe - just a starter pack, if you really feel uncomfortable travelling without any. I don't know if they are cheaper than the change office at the airport though.
