Hotel site says full but discount sites say "available".

Has anyone else run into this situation? Travelocity, etc. show the hotel to be available. I won't call the hotel directly as it's in the UK. I could e-mail them, I suppose. They might ask me what part of their site do I not understand.

"<i>I won't call the hotel directly as it's in the UK.</i>"

Why on earth not? It is not expensive to phone the UK (unless you have some pricey calling plan -- in which case if you use a 10-10 number it will cost about .05¢ a minute.)

When are you trying to book for? If it is months in the future, many hotel websites won't take booking 6 months out. I'd phone them.

(And if you want add'l suggestions/advice, I'd re-post over on the Europe forum)

janisj beat me to it. Why not call the hotel? That's by far the simplest way to get your question answered.

Sometimes hotels will sell "blocks" of rooms to sites such as Travelocity, Expedia, and the like. Send them an email if you're concerned about the cost of the phone call and ask the question exactly like you did in your post~so far, janis, suze and I all understood what you were asking! Either that, or book thru Travelocity......

I have had this happen several times and just booked thru the on-line internet travel agency (which is what Travelocity, etc really are). Always had a room when I arrived.

Hi janisj!
I am agree with you. Phone call is not expensive. For a great trip, hotel or resort should be book 2 or 3 months ago.

I had this happen on a trip to Germany, I desperately wanted this one particular hotel, and it was booked on their site. I went to a travel site, and booked the hotel. No problem
