Honeymoon on a budget leaving Perth, Australia

Ok, so basically we have about a $3000 budget for our honeymoon.

Being on the west coast, that kind of cuts our "budget holidays" down because most packages leave from the east coast, and the really good deals are from east to the destination, and for us to then book another flight to the east coast to get the connecting would end up costing a lot( more than it should just to fly across the country, about 700-1200 each depending on when you try to fly).

We don't really want to be anywhere too humid, so majority of Asia is out, but it seems like that's really the only place we can afford.

Does anyone know of any places that are a little secluded and not too humid for a honeymoon that might be at least close to our budget?

We would really like to go somewhere cold, or maybe America, but going to America would see all our budget spent just on flights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Fodors. You are likely to get more replies if you post on the continent boards - Australia and Asia, probably. You need to tell people what time of year!

Isn't Tasmania a good bit colder than the rest of Australia? And what about New Zealand - some great scenery there, and you could visit the glaciers on the south island. The youth hostels have private rooms, so you could keep costs down that way, but still have privacy.

Oh, and how much does the train cost? For some people think riding the rails across Australia is a big tourist attraction.

You have a limited budget so I'd re-post on the Asia forum, since other continents most of your $$$ will go just for airfares. (and possibly post on Australia/Pacific too -- for NZ if nothing else)

Perth has direct flights to the island of Mauritius, a very pleasant (and not very African) destination for Europeans escaping the northern winter. But it has the same summer as Perth. The Seychelles can be described the same way, I think. Northern Vietnam, on the other side of the equator from you, has moderately cool (northern) winters and is cheap once you get there.
