Honeymoon in August/September

My fiance and I are getting married in August and we're having a tough time deciding on a honeymoon location due to hurricane season. Where are the best places to visit during Aug/Sept outside the US that are not a fortune? We'll be flying out of NY.

Well, you have to define what "not a fortune" means to you. Give us a "real" budget number not some nebulous term like "not a fortune" or "affordable", "won't break the bank". These are meaningless without a $ point of reference.

Have you thought about going to someplace in Europe? Maybe, London, Paris, Rome, Tuscany, Sicily???? What about the Canadian Rockies? Maybe a Mediterranean cruise or a cruise through the Baltic countries?

Tell us what you'd like to do or see and what type of things interest you.

Ideally, I would like to spend no more than 5k on the honeymoon. My fiance and I are very active people and love to explore, go on tours, site site, learn about diff. cultures, and the beach and physical activity are great too. We were looking into Portugal, but are blown away by the price in airfare...

There is a risk, albeit small, in the Caribbean during the early part of August (it increases the closer you get to September). If you are comfortable with the odds you'll get a lot of "bang" for your $5,000 in the Dominican Republic, Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.

Well from my side the best suggestion wold be Brazil, Tahiti Island, Paris, Thailand or Bangkok.
