Have a lot of miles, will travel

Hi. We are thankfully finally in a position where we have enough miles to basically go wherever we want. My travel window is June through September. I need to accommodate a vegetarian diet, can be gone for 2 weeks, and want to keep hotel costs below $200 a night. Interests are arts, live music, culture, museums, soccer, and shopping. Walking and water are fine, but we are not really beach people. I don't mind culture shock, but I want to feel safe and able to be without my husband if needed. We are not big into night life so that's not a consideration. Have already been to: London, Paris, Budapest, Barcelona, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Prague, Vienna, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Cayman Islands, Rome, Milan, Florence, the Cinque Terre, all over the U.S., and all over Canada. Favorite places are Barcelona, NY, Budapest, and the Cinque Terre, but want to try someplace new and are having a hard time thinking of someplace to go that is the right weather, affordable, or maybe we just have the wrong ideas and aren't thinking of obvious choices. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Mahj,

I think the only place you left out was Antartica.

You might want to narrow your post down from "anywhere in the world", so that there are more than incoherent and conflicting responses.

Who do you have your 'miles' with?

How many 'miles' do you have?

How many is 'we'?

From where are you traveling?

Thailand.

Sorry, its me and my husband. Miles are StarAlliance, so we usually go on Lufthansa or United, and will be either from Denver or SFO.

Thailand is on the list, but I've been led to believe the best time to go is Nov-Jan due to haze/burning and monsoon issues and that its best avoided June-Sept. Do I have that wrong? Thanks again.

I don't see Mexico or Central America on the list of places you have been. I went to Costa Rica for a week last summer and had a terrific time - I could absolutely go back for 2 weeks. The city of San Jose is quite interesting, and if you are interested in nature, the rest of the country is brimming with interesting plants and animals.

For Mexico, next month we will be taking 2 weeks to travel around the Yucatan Peninsula - combo of time in the Yucatan capital of Merida (live music, culture, museums, shopping). some time in the countryside (Mayan ruins, nature), and then some time on the beach.
Here is an article about cities to visit in Mexico - something might pique your interest...
