New Year in Europe, where?
We ( a couple- 60 years old) want to spend a week (including New Year's eve) somewhere in Europe, maybe on an island there. We are looking for a city that offers beautiful architecture, good museums and has a pleasant climate, not too cold. New Year party We are not interested in the Nw Year Party in the streets, but in a nice restaurant. Any ideas?

You will get much more response if you re-post thins over on the "Europe" forum - it has 100's times more activity than this one.
However -no place in Europe will have reliably good weather in Dec/Jan. It is winter -- even in 'warm' places like Spain and Greece.
There are great places to spend NY in Europe - just not for the weather. And some of the best New Year celebrations -- Paris, Vienna, Edinburgh (best avoided if you don't want street parties), Prague -- will have pretty reliably bad weather.

Thank you, Melliset.
We was in London some years ago during end of December and it was really nice.
For this year we already made the reservation for Lisbon. We hope to have not so much rain!
