Good backpack (lcabin luggage + daytrips)
HI !
We , 2 adults and 2 kids of 4 and 8 years old, are going to Germany for one month next summer. We plan to atke a large backpack for stuffing our clothes (Eureka apollo 2), and a small suitcase for the same purpose. We are looking to get a good backpcak that would be use in plane (as a cabin luggage) and for all our daytrip. We are looking for something comfortable to carry some clothes for the day, snacks, my dslr (Nikon d 90 withj 18-105 lens) and the Ipad. Thanks ! |
I buy mine from REI, if you have a store nearby go take a look.

You don't need anything fancy for that purpose. I'd just look in person at any store that carries day packs like kids use for school.

eBags has a good selection. Mine is a Dakine with laptop sleeve that I find handy for cushioning things; SO has an Eagle Creek that he swears by.

eBags weekender ( http://amzn.to/1rV6IcK ) with a Crumpler Haven DSLR insert ( http://amzn.to/21WdSdn ) should give you what you want. It can hold clothing, the tablet, camera, and more. That is the combo I use when I do a weekend trip and don't want a suitcase to drag around.
I also have a Nat Geo camera backpack ( http://amzn.to/1rV7h64 ) that is more technical but can also fit the bill if you are creative about packing the clothing (sticking socks and underwear and whatnot into unused camera compartments). It is a well designed pack that serves very well as a day pack. |
Ebags seems to have a good selection but since I live in canada it,s not the best (of cours they deliver but I have to had exchange rate, duty, transport)
ebags weekender doesn't have enough pockets. We are looking for a bag with many compartment and/or pockets. |
How many pockets/compartments do you need? My weekender has at least nine.

Have you tried Mountain Equipment CoOp?
