Food Allergies and Intolerances
When traveling, how do you keep track of your food intake in terms of allergies and intolerances? Since food allergies and intolerances can be hard to deal with when eating outside your own home, I wonder how people do it when they are on the road or even in a country where they don't speak the language.

I don't have severe (life threatening) food allergies, luckily. But I've got a few intolerances and if I'm traveling, I'm careful to avoid stuff that I know would be risky and I plan my meals out by scouting menus online. And (the big one) is that if I'm traveling with family or friends, I've gotten much better at speaking up and saying "I love spending time with you but I can't eat anything there- let's split up for meals". I used to just go along with it and try to find something that worked, but I got really tired of being sick every trip. Some family members still write that off as me being picky, but, hey, I eat a lot better as a result:)

That isn't the way Fodors works. (IMO the OP didn't pass the smell test so I didn't post when I first saw it) |
Sorry for that.
