First time long distance traveler

I've mostly just road along with someone for short trips. I would like to plan a trip across country to Florida i'm trying to decide what to take plane, train, or bus. Which is cheaper and which would be better to see the sights. I've always liked the idea of trains but i'm not sure about what sort of deal i could get on a trip like that. Any suggestions thanks

You are more likely to get replies if you re-post this on the US board.

See seat61.com for info on trains. I recently booked a train trip in the other direction - New York to Chicago to San Francisco. You get the best rates on Amtrak by booking EARLY. When I booked for late April in early December only two dates still had the cheapest sleeper rates. I get the senior discount - there is also a AAA discount - but it's only good for the base fare, not sleepers.

Plane travel will almost certainly be cheaper for a cross-country trip, but then you won't see any country. Train will be more comfortable than bus.

I have traveled a few times on Rail Passes. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conten...=1241213285740

Travel to a station close to what you want to see and rent a car. The USA Rail Pass is usually a better deal than individual tickets if you want to travel a long distance across the US.
The only bus I would ride is an Amtrak bus in California to connect with a train. Those busses are covered on the RailPass

cheapest for me flying southwest.com or spirit.com sometimes less then $99 for me. discoverypass.com or amtrak.com usually
more and longer slog you are talking many miles. roadtripusa.com can be fun if adventurous and you have lots
of time.

HI! I am agreed with the site seat61.com for the information of trains. I have also go through this site so many times. It will be helpful to you to get a really cheap way to go to a holiday in Florida. As far as the best attraction in florida you can go to this link and check it:

Thanks for the links i will check them out. When i was doing my research for a trip i was going to take to PA southwest was the cheapest they also arent extreme with their baggage prices. I've heard alot about amtrak but not much else about any other lines so this information is great.
