Traveling to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia next week. Is is ever a good idea to pay hotel or anything else with credit card vs. cash or debit card?

Thanks in advance for opinions.

Yes, if you have a credit card that charges no foreign currency exchange fee such as the Capital One card. Very convenient and costs no more than cash. Sometimes less depending on the exchange rate you got when you obtained your cash.

welcome to Fodors chawala. See the 'Change Forum 'pull down menu? If you click that you can go over to the Asia Forum. Re-post your question there tagged for Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.

Seems to be about credit card use, not really Asia. So it appears to be a good place for this question to me.

The reason I suggested re-posting is that currency/credit card use isn't as straight forward in some Asian countries as in many western countries.

There are several discussions on the Asia board about how best to pay for things.

For what it's worth then, having just spent 3 months in Asia, the card I mentioned above was good everywhere that cards were accepted. And that's more places every time I go, including budget accommodations.
