What is the problem?
Why do you think I am being "exploited"? |
Take a look at the posting history of the OP. There's nothing there to warrant your suspicions and accusations.
|
Fuzzbucket, love my ziplock bags.
|
I did look at the history. So, apparently did janisj, and possibly kja. Still awaiting a response from the OP...
|
I definitely looked at the OP's posting history. Lots of questions, no clear purpose, made me wonder....

If you don't approve of this poster, I don't understand why you all keep posting to their thread.

I don't have a blog or anything similar!I don't think that assumption is very fair.
I just post whatever question I have because I'm always forgetful when it comes to packing and never up to date when it comes to newer gadgets that are budget friendly and such. I just noticed how random my questions tend to be and how they're MOSTLY very general/miserable attempts to start fun threads like my stamps post. Sorry? But that doesn't mean I'm using anyone's opinion to gain anything other than advice for myself. Thanks to everyone who actually answered my question. |
Thanks for replying.
If you have trouble remembering what to pack, the answer is very simple. Write a master list and save it on your computer. I have a packing list and a things to do before a trip list, and I update them for each trip. Since I travel light, I don't want any new gadgets to take up space. Clothes, electronics and pharma. That's pretty much it. |

Humility is good :) We won't doubt you again. ask away . . . |
Thanks for your response.
A packing list would be a great idea. |
Thanks for the tip guys :) -about keeping a list do you keep one for traveling during the winter and another for traveling during the summer or do you just put everything on one list?
|
I have one master list. Since I try not to travel in particularly hot weather or particularly cold weather the clothes part is pretty generic.
The online versions of my lists are a bit out of date (I no longer travel with a backpack!), but start here and then read the following three posts, the links are at the top of the page: https://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com...take-part-one/ |
BTW, my favorite budget items are ziplock bags, a cheap washcloth (many places outside the US don't provide them, but I want one!), and a small sheet of duct tape.
|
OK, here is a link to my packing list https://accidentalnomads.com/2016/05...ck-like-a-man/
It covers pretty much all seasons and terrains from beaches and 30c to high altitude and -20c |
Actually,if you want to pack light, as you should, you might be better off asking what NOT to take, lol. Take everything everyone suggests, and you may overpack.
For instance, binoculars, unless you are a bird watcher. I have taken them, for stained glass, but they are heavy and I usually forget I have them. A long zoom lens on a point and shoot is probably just as good. |

Considering the source, this mad me LOLOLOL! |
Thanks for the reply - although you should not have to justify your perfectly legitimate questions asked on a travel forum imo!
I don't pack from a list myself. I start packing at least a month in advance and gather things in a separate area (hang on the back of a door, stack in the guest room, whatever). I just keep revisiting it and adding and subtracting as I think of things. Categories being: clothing shoes/sandals/sneakers undies/bras/socks/sleepwear toiletries/cosmetics/first aid gadgets like flashlight, corkscrew, etc. |
I have a master packing list with every category and separate breakdown for carryon stuff; then I have much more specific Europe and California lists (where we go most frequently). Also reminders what to do at home: send itinerary to kids, give neighbors key, call bank, etc. Works for us.
My favorite budget item for travelling: a small highlighter Comes in handy to mark up printed location (if not using smart phone or nav); hotels/tourist info hand you local map and first thing I do is mark our hotel location at front desk and place we're trying to find and go from there. Suze, I'm with you -- if you dont like a posting, SKIP it! Lots of people didnt like that Fodors actually awarded me a guidebook when I posted my "tip" few years ago, as they didnt feel it was warranted. They need to go volunteer or something and please dont be at my hotel, flight, etc. |
