I am looking at taking an around the world trip in the spring and I would love to get in contact with someone who has done this before or someone that has traveled to some of these places. I am in my mid-twenties and a female and I'm a little nervous about traveling by myself. Anyone have any advice? I will be heading to Europe and Asia with a short stop in Guatemala. Thanks!

Have you ever traveled solo before? Most people start with something a LOT smaller than going around-the-world when it's their very first time traveling alone.

happy to help. yes i have traveled quite a bit, but i'm older. i started small and built up my 'travel savvy' over many many trips and increasing levels of challenge to the trips. i can understand your being nervous because this RTW a huge undertaking especially if it is your first time traveling and/or traveling alone.

I traveled for 8 months throughout Europe and the Middle East. It was brilliant.. you always meet up with other great travelers and one of the best things I did was become a host exchange member. Have a look at the website. In southern france and Corsica I stayed with two families for about 3 weeks each and I did about 4 hours worth of work and then was able to visit the local communities and do some extra travel. Actually in southern france my host took me to spain!! A really good option for traveling inexpensively
