Does the USB car charger (UK edition ) suffice for my car travel ?

Glad to find a place here to share my puzzles here :

I am going to spend my holiday in US with several weeks of car travel across most part of the continent.

I plan to carry my USB car chargers with me charging my iphone and ipad all the way.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00WDWPOF4/

I want to use it with the car I will rent there. Please simply help me confirm that the "cigarette lighter" plug is standard and same on all vehicles in US and UK. Should I get a US connector ?

I will rest assure if there is nothing I need to worry about in this aspect.

No monologue. So much to do to pack !

12volt car sockets are the same.
We used a usb charger last year in the US, though we also took a plug adapter (actually a power cube) with us to charge in hotels too.

"I plan to carry my USB car chargers with me charging my iphone and ipad all the way." - it will work but if you pan on charging your iPad you must be planning some very long car journeys! Bring a U.S. - UK adapter or buy one in Sainsubrys.

Standard plug, but note that some cars (I suspect the newer ones) will only charge your device when the engine is on. Found this out to my dismay when traveling with a family member. My older Mercury will charge all the time- which is handy overnight- but at least the newer Toyotas I've ridden in wont charge while engine is off. So don't rely on that...unless, I suppose, you use your devices sparingly or you are in car more than not.

Feedback after a long time. It seems that I forgot to tell you kind guys that it keeps working well during my travel even in US.I think "marvelousmouse" had suggested in a right way. Thanks for much !
