Could help with SIMs, but not calling cards.

re-post on the Europe forum. Just about every day there are questions about sim cards/calling cards/data plans, etc.

If you really do mean a calling card - they are very inexpensive but it is getting harder and harder to find pay phones to use them away from the hotel or apartment.

If you have a smartphone you can always try a VOIP app which bypasses Roaming charges. You can make calls through a Wifi connection and with some of the new low bandwidth apps, you can also use on a 2G or 3G data signal without using too much of your data package. There's one that we've tried on our travels in Europe, US, Middle East and India called Pzzapp.

Good luck on your travels.
