Camera bags
Does anyone have any suggestions on good DSLR camera bags. I have a Sony a500 with a Tamron 80-200 lens. I would like something that will protect the camera and yet also be able to put my wallet, phone, ipod, manuel for camrea, and charger/cords, etc in.

We have this one:

Does anyone know anything about the Crumpler bags, more specifically the 5 million dollar bag?

Hi Shianne,
I personally have 3 camera bags/systems and each have their time and place. IMO camera bags are like shoes, you can never have too many. One of my bags is the 5 Million Dollar from Crumpler (in red) and I use it as my walking around town bag. I have an Olympus E-510 and can fit my 14-42, 40-150 and 70-300 lens in it. I don't know how those lenses compare in size to yours (Olympus is a 4/3 format and the lenses are often smaller/lighter for the equivalent focal length in other systems). It doesn't have a good way to carry a water bottle (an oversight IMO), but I like being able to access the bag without taking it off and it's well made. My best advice would be to go to a camera store with the gear you'll be carrying and try different bags. Make sure your gear fits in the bag, the bag fits you and you are comfortable with how easy/not easy it is to access your gear from the bag. Don't rush yourself, take your time and make sure you are happy with your purchase. |
The website cambags.com is an excellent resource when considering various camera bags. People post reviews that contain photos of the bags stuffed with all their equipment, so you can see what fits.
As for myself, my trusty Domke has served me well over the past several years but I'm looking for something new, and I have my eye on the Think Tank Retrospective bags. |
