Where to go in August?
I'll have about three weeks off in August, and I'm hoping to take a trip maybe for 7-10 days or so. I'll be coming from Dallas, so ideally I would like places that are a bit cooler. I'd also hope to take advantage of any regions that may be off-season around early/mid August. I also have about 150K American Airlines miles I could use if need be.
One thought was to visit friends in San Diego and San Francisco, with maybe a trip to Puerta Vallarta in there somewhere. However, it seems pretty tough to get to PV (most airlines have a flight a couple times per week), and flights are somewhat expensive there. On the other hand, hotel rates are cheap.
New York and/or Boston/Cape Cod was another idea, yet wow it's expensive there in August!
Another thought was something like Stockholm and Copenhagen, but wow that's far, and I might want more time.
Never really been to the Caribbean to stay, although I know August can be low season there.
What about some combination of Buenos Aires/Santiago/Rio? Seems a bit expensive and I may want more time there.

That's not right. What airlines are you looking at. Try US Air or Alaskan. I go to Puerto Vallarta every year.
That said August is NOT a very good month there weather-wise. It's hot hot hot, humid, and rainy season. And yes you can get a pretty nice hotel room or even an apartment there for about $50/night since it's low season.

I think I was looking at Alaska or US and I guess I was just surprised at the relative paucity of flights. Seemed like there was one-non stop flight and only on like a Wednesday or Saturday or something. Ugh, humid is not good for me (now I know why I'm seeing good Starwood rates there).
I am starting to have the desire for even a small beachish kind of break in there, maybe even 2-3 days. Maybe there are some places in California in between SD and SF that could be helpful? I lived in LA for five years and might want something different. Hawaii is starting to intrigue me more, now.

Like I said, that's just not right about flights. You're missing something. There are frequent flights to Puerto Vallarta (maybe not from San Diego, but most certainly from LAX or SFO). Are you looking on the Alaksa Air & US Air websites?
Well I'm going to Hawaii on Saturday is why it's on my mind
It's fantastic!!!
And sure the entire California coastline is beautiful (i grew up in LA). Santa Cruz maybe?

Think about the fresh air, sweet flowers smell, breathtaking landscape, Adventure trekking, and much more.
Thinking?
How you feeling?
Awesome right?
Now think about tour to Uttarakhand India. This is the only state in India where you could get cooler weather than any other Indian state. Lots of things to do here.
