Best Weekend Trip Bag?
Hello Forum!
As it is finally summer here in Minneapolis I am gearing up for a few weekend trips -- to lake houses/cabins, maybe a few quick trips to the east coast, hopefully a long weekend in the Caribbean too. I am in the market for the perfect bag to bring on these excursions. Any ideas? Much appreciated! Alex |

good info depends on your needs budet of course High quality medium-large roller pack works best for me. Eddie Bauer Sampsonite et al top quality on amazon.com shopzilla.com or TJ Max has them great deals for me up to 70 % off. Fly Spirit.com a lot to Carib/CA/SA they charge for overheads so I make sure I can slide the bag under the seat in front No charge for that yet. I am sure it will come eventually if they can swing it without massive passenger revolt. |
I am really looking for something a bit upscale. Something with quality materials that will age with time instead of breaking. Looking to make somewhat of an investment for on the bag if that makes sense.
I was thinking Tumi but I feel like everybody has one and I was hoping to find something a little more unique looking. |
I actually have French luggage (the Paradis pattern) for weekend (car only) travel. I only have/need a few pieces because I never intended to fly with these bags, just have them as an elegant set for mini-breaks and visiting friends. Obviously it's completely unnecessary to have luggage that nice, but I just love it. Somehow it makes me feel old-world-elegant, and I knew that it would never need to be replaced in my lifetime. Haven't bought a piece in over a decades so I'm not even sure if they are still making the stuff. Anyway, a long way to say I completely understand your desire for something very nice.

Is there a link where you could show me what it looks like? A friend of mine shared with me a new brand that currently only makes one bag and has a style that I absolutely love. Let me know what you think. I think I might give them a try.

As I suspected, they are no longer in business. Here is a link to at least see the pieces.

Well I have a treasured Etro signature-paisley duffel w/ leather straps/supports but I only use it for car travel as it does not have wheels; when packed fully, I do not want to carry it! Would not consider checking it. I suggest function over form on this issue. Look at Baggellini line.
