Affordable Honeymoon with Great Snorkeling

Hi!

We plan on honeymooning from 6/17/08 - 7/6/08 and have 7000.00 to cover everything (except the airfare - that will be separate).

Any suggestions? We like small, intimate places and snorkeling is a must!

Belize seems too expensive to get anything decent for 19 nights...been to Mexico and Puerto Rico too many times...

Have you looked at St. Lucia? Anse Chastanet and Ti Kaye are both small romantic resorts, that have good snorkeling offshore.

For great off shore snorkeling in Belize you'd be best off on one of the atolls like Turneffe. Grand Cayman and St. John both have great snorkeling, but are pretty pricy for hotels. Would you do a villa or condo for your honeymoon?

Don't forget that this is hurricane season in the Caribbean and you'd best get trip inusrance.

How about the Big Island of Hawaii -the Hapuna Prince and Mauna Kea both have good offshore snorkeling - and Cap't Cook area has some great snorkeling. You culd do the Manta Ray night snorkel as well.

I think hawaii would be a great place to go snorkeling. Hapuna Beach prince was a great recommendation..however the mauna kea hotel is closed since the earthquake.

If you would stay for 19 days though I would suggest doing more than one island and maybe not just kona. While the hapuna beach prince has a beautiful beach that island is not the most well known for it's beaches. But for 19 days you could easily visit 3 or 4 islands getting a very different experience on each. All the islands actually have great snorkeling in some place or other.

Maui has the molokini/turtle town snorkel..oahu has hanauma bay great for snorkeling..plus if you are into that kind of thing you can visit sea life park and do a sea trek in the tank or a dolphin encounter as well. You can also catch a snorkel trip from maui to molokai or lanai for a day as well.

Turks & Caicos Club: www.turksandcaicosclub.com and check out their Romantic Escape or Pictures in Paradise (and you can add extra night.) Affordable and snorkeling right off their beach.

There are several places on Ambergris Caye that you could stay that would be very affordable.

It depends on your expectations. The snorkeling is great there.

In my experience, expenses were less than in Hawaii.
