2 months travel from California
 

HI! I will be studying in California and from mid December I will have around two months to travel. I will be travelling on a budget and backpacking (my budget is more or less 1500€). The thing is that I don't really know where to go. My first idea was going to the South Pacific, as I saw there are now cheap flights to go there. Other options could be Asia or Central America. As I said I can backpack and I would also bring a tent to make it cheaper. Have any of you travelled from there and could share some experience and thoghts? I am open to any suggestion.

That is only about $1700 which even for a backpacker/camper is pretty low for two months when one has to fly to get there (and presumably either back to CA or to your home). Even if you can get all your flights for $600 or $700, that would leave only $500/€430 per month for everything else.

What about Mexico? If that is your total budget much of it will be eaten up by airfare alone, to South Pacific, Asia, or Central America.

From California... Mexico, Central America, maybe Hawaii, make the most sense for a person on a budget looking to explore something new.
