1st time solo- Caribbean
I've been separated for about a year. I've never traveled solo and need to go to somewhere w turquoise waters, snorkling, yoga, an opportunity to join a group w/out an organized tour 24/7. HELP! I'm not into hardcore adventure tours, but would like to go somewhere eco-minded.I like to horeseback ride, kayak, swim, hang on the beach, read, enjoy some good food, do yoga and get a massage, but also go somewhere where other singles can meet. Not a huge Westin per say. Does anyone have a tour company or suggestion for me? I need free time to do what I want, but would also like the opportunity to meet others... Interested in Belize, bahamas, yucutan peninsula....

I think Jackie's on the Reef in Negril Jamaica is worth checking out. It fits your needs nicely.

I travel alone all the time - my personal preference in the Caribbean are the all-inclusive resorts. You never have to worry about money or cabs. I find that most folks in these resorts don't object to a solo traveler asking to join them for dinner, so you don't have to sit alone unless you want to. You might look at LeSport in St Lucia - it is an all-inclusive spa on the beach. Has exercise and yoga classes and included spa treatments.
I wouldn't necessarily count on meeting alot of singles unless you do one of the more "singles" kind of places like Hedonism - which is quite fun but doesn't sound like what you're looking for. Windjammer Cruise line does some "singles" trips but even one of their regular trips can be fine, as long as you don't need lots of luxury. |

Dear Sharkdiver,
I can't help wondering just what those exclamation points are for. I have an idea, but whatever it is, it must be really good! Lea |
