Yellow Fever vaccination - Bolivia
Is it necessary to get a Yellow Fever vaccination if one is traveling only in high altitude areas ? Will we be asked for the certificate when we cross the border from Peru ?

Travel.state.gov Bolivia required and they are picky
Www.lap.pe Lima airport clinic has them for $20 If u do not want to take the jab tell them u are allergic to eggs Get the waiver certificate it works just as well. |
Boliviabella.com nice site for u
Visa also required usually $135 or so per person If budget is tight makes sense to stay in Peru sometimes |
" Get the waiver certificate it works just as well." Unfortunately it won't protect you against YF!!
As for the above suggestion that you should pretend you have an allegy to eggs, well words fail me! The only sensible thing to do is to consult a specialist travel clinic/doctor for advice on destintions and potential side effects. This is widely regarded as one of the best resources on the web for tropical medicine: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Yellow-...roduction.aspx I would add that if you intend to travel further in South America and Africa where the disease is present then the vaccination does last for 10 years |
If you are 60+ years you should be able to get a waiver, also.
High altitude locations no worries about catching YF. I had a skin reaction for about 2 weeks, it's a live virus vaccine which is why it's expensive, and why not everyone should get it, cost aside. |
