Two day stay in Lima

Hello, We live in Miami , we are flying next November Avianca to Montevideo, Uruguay. We have to change planes in Lima, arriving 8.45 PM .
We are hoping to be able to stay for two nights in Lima. Unfortunatelly due to a health issue we cannot afford to go to Cuzco and Machu Pichu.
I shall appreciate some advice, we thought of staying in the Hotel Tierra Viva Miraflores Larco, because it has good reviews and is the kind of hotel we enjoy. Great rate too.I have no clue if it is a good idea to stay in Miraflores?
Can anyone suggest a good local tour company, may be for a private tour , may be not.
WE are looking forward to brake our long trip to Montevideo in two visiting a city we have not visited for a long , long time. (Decades actually).
Any suggestion will be highly appreciate, we like history and art, and of course have wonderful memories of great Peruvian cuisine. We do Speak spanish .Thank you.
By the way kudos to Avianca, we flew last May between Miami and Montevideo and were greatly impressed with the Airbus, service and excellent ticket price.

You might want to post on Tripadvisor - I think more people post there for Peru. We stayed on the border between Miraflores and Barranco. Miraflores is a terrific neighbourhood - lots of excellent restaurants and things to do and see there. If you click on my name, you should see my trip report from May.

A great website for Lima is www.limaeasy.com

I prefer Barranco.

I liked Barranco as well but I must admit that I loved the high end restaurants in Miraflores. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to get around as much as we had planned since our trip was cut short but I probably would stay in Barranco next time around.

We stayed in both Miraflores and Barranco on our last trip and preferred Barranco, as it had much more of a village type atmosphere. Some terrific restaurant at all levels.

We stayed at an apartment on the edge of Barranco/ Miraflores so we got the best of both worlds as it was only a 15min walk to Larcomar and access to other parts of the city via the Metropolotano. This place was a few yards from our apartment and looked very nice http://hotelb.pe

I adore Barranco for its wealth of character and village feel but Miraflores is more central and has more variety in terms of restaurants. If you are into history and art, make sure you check out the National Museum as well as the Larco Museum; you can walk between the two.
