travel within south america

need advice re best way to arrange air travel within south america. lima cusco , lima buenos airies, to iguzu, to rio. are their multi city deals?

LAN often has airfare sales, so first I'd check their website and see which city is cheapest to fly into. Up until mid-June they were throwing in the transfer to Cusco and back for free. That might be on offer with some US airlines as well.

ey also have a South American airpass. It's listed under Special Deals If you can get an inexpensive flight into South America on LAN (not a codeshare) the discounts are decent. The also have a less generous discount if flying in by a oneworld alliance member.

This might be a case where a travel agent would be useful.

LAN rips off tourists...passes rarely a good deal with them

charges tourists 3-5X what locals pay

Some would argue LAN and Argentina both offer residents a discount, not ripping off tourists.

I agree with soulskier.
You can get good fares with them if you book early. Last minute, everyone pays more. So if traveling in high season, don't wait for a better price.
As for the LANpass, there is a calculator map on their website and you can see if it is worth your while or not.
There are also smaller airlines in country which offer lower fares but, as they have fewer aircraft, delays can be a problem.

If you haven't already booked try pricing your trip going to Rio from Lima and then onto BA thru Iguazu. This way if you are from the US you can avoid the reciprocity fee they charge if you arrive into Argentina thru EZE the international airport.
