Travel to Ecuador in pregnancy

My partner and I have booked a trip to Ecuador in September. I will be in my second trimester and am looking for pregnancy friendly trip ideas/ itineraries.

How long are you staying for? It is difficult to suggest itineraries without knowing this.

Have you checked with your doc re the effects of altitude on your pregnancy? E.g. Are there any limits re altitude, Vaccinations. Presumably malaria treatments are out so that would mean giving the jungle a miss?

Around Quito, Banos and Otavalo are definitely worth visiting. Further afield Cuenca is a beautiful city. Again, check out the altitude issues before making any plans. A ride on teh train to Latacunga.

For other ideas, here is a link to my blog of our trip there last year with some photos, detail etc.

Sorry about that! Thanks for the location ideas. I'll be going for just over two weeks. Altitude should be fine as long as I stay below 3000 meters and all my pre-trip check-ups are normal. Pregnancy might actually protect me from altitude sickness due to the increase in progesterone and it's effects on breathing.
I was wondering about itinerary ideas but also if there is anyone out there who has recently travelled to Ecuador while pregnant and what were your experiences/ challenges?
