Tipping guides in Pantanal..

I've been on safari in Africa a number of times and tipping guides and staff is customary. Am wondering if the same is true in Brazil and, if so, what are the guidelines. I'll be going to the Atlantic Forests, Planalto Central and the Pantanal and will have the same guide throughout.

The company I booked with said the guide would tip restaurant staff, but tipping local drivers and guides would be up to us.

Any advice is appreciated.
