Thanks for all the advise. I think I am pretty much set with my itinerary now. I will try to stay in Ollan for at least 2 nights if not all 3 and do some sightseeing on the way from Cusco to Ollan and back and go to MP one of the 2 days.
This exchange has been very helpful.

All -

Thanks again for all of the advice! We had a FANTASTIC time in Peru...completely surpassed my expectations. I'm very glad we ended up staying in Ollantaytambo 2 nights rather than Aguas Calientes - Ollanta is a great little town and I found A.Calientes far too touristy. Hotel Sauce was very nice, and they even set up breakfast at 4:45a for us on the morning we went to MP!

In my opinion, taking the 5:37a backpacker train to MP and coming back on the last 7p Vistadome train was the perfect amount of time at MP. We were able to see everything, we hiked HP and even had time to just relax.

mikatsek - Enjoy your trip!

So glad you liked Ollantaytambo! Peru also far surpassed our expectations. Now enjoy Russia.

We just returned on this very trip 12 days ago. Get ready it's fabulous. There are many taxis available. We had 4 people plus luggage. Our hotel in Olly arranged a van at a cost of $40 for the trip back to Cusco. Approx. 1 1/2 hours. If you have an evening flight out of Lima be sure to give yourself plenty of time. The Lima airport was crazy the evening we departed.

FYI - There are many tour guides/taxis available to tour Sacred Valley. We got a guide/van in Pisac and traveled to Pisac ruins and through Morray, etc. and ended up in Olly ruines for the night. Hire a guide - there is so much info. you'll miss if you don't. Olly is a charming little town and the people are very frendly. Highly encourage staying here and enjoying the culture after the Sacred Valley day tourist leave. Don't do sacred valley on a one day tour if you can add a night there as apposed to two in Cusco.
