Taxi in Buenos Aires

What is the cheapest way to get from Ezeiza airport to Buenos Aires city center? It will be 2 of us arriving at 7:40 pm next week. How much are taxis? Is there a cheaper alternative?

Thanks.

The charge is 98 pesos from EZE to Buenos Aires. The private shuttle from EZE to the city center terminal is 40 pesos per person, or 80 per couple, plus the cost of a taxi from the terminal to your hotel. In other words, a taxi is as cheap as the shuttle for two persons. The taxi stand is in the middle of the arrival hall after you clear customs...it is white/blue with the name Taxi Ezeiza on it...

In June going from Recoletta to EZE I paid 76 pesos for a yellow and black radio taxi for the two of us.

Exitrow, The fee is lower from town to the airport than it is from the airport to downtown. I suppose this is so because of the fees taxis pay to register and operate from the airport...the cynical part of me thinks the extra fee might simply be because they have a monopoly at the airport and the market is more competitive downtown.

If you take a taxi, you have to know that they only charge in PESOS not USD. Everyone knows about this, but taxi drivers tend to take advantage of recently arrived foreign tourists... something not to be proud of.
You may find out how much a private transfer costs, just to be on the safe side. I know there are travel agencies such as WOW Argentina that have the meeting point service at the int'l airport. With this service it is much more easier for you to find your driver and you don't have to look for a sign with your name among all the people in the hall.
Their site is www.wowrgentina.com
Have a nice trip in our country!

About money:

ATM machines have begun charging a few for each withdrawal and limit each withdrawal to around 300 pesos. Also, it is reported that ATM's frequently run out of money.

I recommend taking cash and exchanging dollars for pesos at the airport location of Banco de la Nacion, which offers a very good rate of exchange. I exchange all the dollars I think I will need to avoid taking the time finding a place to exchange money in the city. The exchange rate is the same as you will receive elsewhere. Banco de la Nacion is located to your right as you pick up your bags from screening in the Customs area....you can also access the bank after you leave customs from inside the main terminal. Do not use the Kiosk operated by Global Exchange...they offer a rate of exchange at least 20% below the current exchange rate.

About private car: there are at least three private car booths lined up in a row as you exit customs....VIP, WorldCAr and Manuel Leon Tienda....There is no need to pay the extra commission a company such as wow Argentina will charge you for this service.

Yes, right now the ATM machines are charging 11.46 every time you make a withdrawal.
