TANGO SHOWS - Buenos Aires

Any recommendations for the best tango shows in BA?

I would pick one that is just tango, not one that includes dinner. The ones that include dinner are pricey and the food is never that good....

Cafe Tortoni

We preferred La Ventana over all that we have seen. But, as Crelleston says, Cafe Tortoni is a nice show in a lovely, historic cafe - upstairs is a shorter Tango show and without the comedy routines (downstairs) that are difficult if you are not a Spanish speaker.

As Dinny says, the meals are generally inferior to restaurant meals, but a picata (board of cheese/olives/meats) is nice to munch while watching the Tango. In La Ventana, the food was actually pretty good.

Have fun,

What I like about the place was that it was quite small (we were upstairs and as it was a small room we got a brilliant view of the show. We went in a couple of days beforehand and booked a table at the front with a bottle of champagne (good and v, reasonable!). We were so close we could see the patches on there shoes! The dancing was great but the music was better. the accordion player was clearly well known by the loacals and a virtuoso, a sort of Jimi Hendix/Eric Clapton of the accordion.
