Seeing as much as possible in 10 days in Argentina

Hello!

I am visiting Argentina from April 18-27 this year. I need help with deciding where to go and how to get there. I will be flying in and out of Buenos Aires, but have nothing booked in between. I would love to see everything but with such a large country, short period of time and tight budget, it won't be possible. Is it more practical to fly or bus between BA and other regions? Help!

Wish list: Iguassu falls, some sort of wine tour, possibly a beach/ocean coastal area, beautiful scenery, historic sights.

Hello Allisel!
You're right 9 days is very short for Argentina, but you can still have a nice overview of some regions of the country! Moving yourself by bus will allow you to enjoy great sceneries will on the roads, though it is sometime very long! So up to you to decide it!
Coastal area don't really worth it, there is so much to discover inland! I'd suggest you to travel from BA to Iguazu Falls and discover these wonderful places: Predelta National Park / Sierra de las Quijadas National Park / Iberá Wetlands / Saltos del Moconá / San Ignacio Miní (best preserved Argentine ruins - UNESCO site). I also higly recommend you to discover the region of Salta is very wonderful and unique - to go there take a flight (a bus drive is about 20 hours from Iguazu)!

I hope that helps!

With just 9 days, and those in the late Fall, I agree with Laurent that the coastal areas are not worth really considering.

Spend time visiting Buenos Aires - there is a lot to see. Then, if The Falls is your priority (and it is a very good one) take a plane to Iguazzu Falls for 2 nights. This is not inexpensive, but you really do not want those tiresome, long bus-rides with limited days in the country.

OR

You can have a wine tasting near to BsAs - and/or - you can go to an Estancia and also have a wine tasting in the Pampas (San Antonio de Areco, for example - a short bus ride from BsAs and a small, charming, cowboy town).

To go to the Northwest - Salta/Jujuy area - would require an expensive flight (although there is a less costly flight from Iguazu to Salta on certain days)and a stay of at least 4-5 nights, IMO, to begin to appreciate the coloratura and spectacular scenery of that area.

Do some more reading about Buenos Aires and its barrios etc., and then try to learn what you can about what is available in this part of the country - so as to limit your travel time and maximize your travel budget. And then, please, post back with any more questions.

I think BA-Salta-Iguazu is bit much in your time.

BA, Iguazu and maybe a day trip to Colonia de Sacremento in Uruguay could work.

TBH, 9/10 days is almost enough just for BA and Iguazu (6 d / 3d). BA is not to be rushed, a super city!

I would fly BA-Iguazu given your timeframe.
