Satellite phones allowed into Brazil?

Hi,

Am trying to confirm that tourists can bring satellite phones into Manaus Brazil from the US - doing some fact finding for a possible fishing trip in 2016 and heard some countries confiscate sat phones on entry (and don't return them) so wanted to be sure. I've tried looking around on-line but can't find anything definitive about this and can't get a live person on the phone at the local Brazilian Consulate office.

Thanks!

For what it's worth, I've seen companies apparently advertising sat phones for use in Brazil. Never heard of a gringo tourist trying to bring one in, nor a Brazilian (the only people I know who have gone on fishing trips) using one on such a trip.
