Salar de Uyuni share November 2010
Greetings fellow travellers! I am a 49 year old Canadian female planning a 4 day trip through Salar de Uyuni starting in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile and finishing in Uyuni this November (2010.) I'm looking for 1-3 travel mates to share costs. Since I'm on a tight schedule I'll be going with either Fremen or Ruta Verde in the hopes of a smoother and slightly more comfortable trip. The departure date will be either Monday November 15th or Tuesday November 16. If this fits into your travel plans please leave me a message and we can talk details.

Did the tour companies say you had to help fill the seats? Usually there is no shortage of people to go on a tour and you just pay for your place. The rest is up to them. Smaller companies will sometimes 'farm out' customers to another company if they can't fill the vehicle of their own but I have not heard of Ruta Verde doing this. I don't know Fremen.

Just a heads up about Uyuni. Tours have not been going due to road blocks and an uncertain atmosphere in the area. This may well clear up before November, but has been an off and on problem since June. Indeed, many areas of SW Bolivia are experiencing problems and no one has been able to leave Potosi by land or air for days now.

La Paz runs cost effective tours For individuals if you fail to fill your group Might check that out... |
Thanks for the tip qwovadis - I will check out Lokitours. I have been keeping an eye on the road block situation with the hopes that big issues will be settled before November with the locals.
Huentetu, the "comfort tours" do require that you put your own group together ahead of booking. Both Fremen and Ruta Verde offer cheaper tours where they assemble groups but I really want to have heated accommodations and the budget tours don't stay at these hotels. Cheers |
