Salar de Uyuni: a guide
Hello all! I just got back from Bolivia and was blown away -- what a beautiful country with diverse terrain, and Salar de Uyuni is unlike anything on this planet. Here's my write-up if you'd like to learn more, and I'm happy to answer any questions about guides, etc. We used La Torre Tours:

Looks like an amazing experience. I am currently planning a trip through Bolivia and Peru and considering visiting Salar de Uyuni. What was your experience like with La Torre Tours?

Any suggestions on how to get to Salar de Uyuni from La Paz?

You can fly or get the train or bus from LP to Uyuni.

Kanoo Tours is a Bolivian agency with a good website that has all the transfer options. I stopped into their office in La Paz although I didn't use their services I was impressed that they did not have outrageous commissions. You can book buses through agencies, some airlines online.
Some people just book the budget Salar tours when they arrive in Uyuni. There is a huge range in pricing based on routing, number of people in the vehicle, etc. Decide on which the routing first/ eg Uyuni start vs Tupiza start. And private or group tour makes a big difference. Both crellston and I did trip reports although they are a bit older. |
