Puno to Cusco - Perurail versus bus?

My wife and I are planning a trip to Peru in April . We have read about an option of travelling from Puno to Cusco on a "luxury" train service offered by Perurail called the ANDEAN EXPLORER at $220 per person which is much more than the bus ticket. Has anybody been on this train or heard about it ? Is it worthwhile?

www.inkaexpressbus.com my fav way to go.Grupo Ormeno bus also faster cheaper if in a hurry both 80-90% cheaper with better ride. The train is longer lurchier sort of faky with "shows" and expensive drink add ons was obscenely priced when I took it as a newbie years back.Did not help to watch local board
the same train for a sole or two.Like Hiram Bingham nicely decorated but a big tourist trap for the clueless.

Happy Deciding!

We went by Inka Express. It took around 8 hours with several stops at places of interest and lunch along the way. Great trip and great value and it follow the trainline for a lot of the journey. Met others who used the train but were not that impressed give the exhorbitant cost. You need to book afew days in advance

We just purchased our InkaExpress tickets for $45 each.

Thank you for your very helpful replies. I guess it´s a no brainer to choose between a $45 comfortable bus trip and a $220 lurchy tacky train ride.
Just another question: Any experience with Lake Titicaca tour operators ?

If you just want to see a few of the floating islands you can walk or taxi to the docks (4 soles each way). The boat to Uros is 10 soles round trip and 5 soles to land, plus they will hard sell to buy a souvenier, pay for photos, buy lunch, etc. Allow a few hours.

Trout lunch on the way to the dock is 10 soles. Be careful about eating on the island, I spoke to someone who thinks he got sick there.

We are in Lima now on our way to Cuzco and Puno. Allways travel in Puno is charging us $12 each for hotel pickup, boat and guide to Uros. Jose Luis at Allways has been very easy to deal with. They also purchased and sent us the InkaExpress tickets electronically. We will pay them when we arrive.
