Peru- one night in Lima
I finally took the plunge and booked tickets in and out of Lima, arriving 11pm on 7/7 and flying to Cusco the 8th. We will have 2 nights there before starting the lodge to lodge trek w/ Mountain Lodges of Peru, and then we will have one full day to spend in Lima before flying out at midnight. Has anyone stayed at the Radisson by the airport? I have heard that it can be dangerous in that area at night, so I don't want to assume it's worth finding a nicer place just for the night, but I wouldn't mind a nice hotel to sleep late before departing to Cusco. Also, we will need dinner plans for our last night before flying home.....any recs? We prefer local & casual- not fancy.
Thanks! |
oops- meant Ramada at airport

You don't really even leave the airport to stay at the Ramada.
But if you have a full day it makes no sense to stay there if you want to see Lima, it is not near anything you can walk to. Stay at one of the big tourist hotels in Miraflores instead. |
I am hesitant to kick off my husband's 50th b'day trip at an airport ramada.....miraflores sounds like a good idea. thanks. now just need to find out which hotel is best....

Marriott.com miraflores very best for a splurge.
Pick up their Biz CC 50000 points with first use get a free stay what I do a lot worldwwide. |
Although I wouldn't normally recommend it (rack rates thru the roof) if you do some searching you may find the JW Marriott at a very good price for your date.

Thanks. My hubby hates chain hotels so we typically avoid. Having said that, the miraflores park plaza or something like that looked great- by orient express but not huge. Anyone stay there? Rack rate is low to mid 300's but only one nt so would consider if worth it, ESP when ramada is 285!

The Miraflores Park Plaza is a very nice choice and was once the most premier hotel in Lima. Since it is close to the seafront, you'll also likely be able to secure a room with an ocean view. It's certainly a luxurious place to stay.
Hotel Sol de Oro, Casa Andina Select Miraflores, and the El Condado Miraflores are also conveniently located in the middle of the trendiest district of the city. If you want a more cozy and intimate suggestion, I really like Second Home Peru in the Barranco neighborhood, about 10 minutes taxi ride or 20 minutes public transportation from Miraflores. Barranco is the edgier area with a lot of character going for it. Let us know if you need any help, and have fun! Peru For Less |
