Patagonia in September/October

Hello,
My husband and I are planning to visit South America this year. We're planning to go there late September/ early October. We want to go to Patagonia. In Patagonia we want to visit Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine national park.
My query is, wether it is good time to visit Patagonia at that time of the year? What kind of weather can we expect? Are there going to be grey overcast skies all the time, or is the weather good?
Any opinions, advice, tips are greatly appreciated.
Thank you

We just came back from Patagonia. We were prepared for rain and grey skies at all times and terrible winds. Amazingly we had wonderful weather! That's not to say that it wasn't very windy at times, but we had blue skies about 90% of the time.

We took a three day ship tour on the Stella Australis around Cape Horn (left from Ushuaia). We heard that on many previous trips the passengers were not allowed to get off at the various stops because of bad weather. Yet we were able to make the landings everywhere!

So, what I am really saying is that you really never know what the weather will be. Sept-Oct is the beginning of their spring so I would think the flowers would be starting to bloom and it could be gorgeous.

Torres del Paine is fantastic. Puerto Natales is just a nice little town.

Go.

March is not the same as September. I would contact one of the lodges that remains open all year such as Cascada and ask.

Generally you are looking at four seasons in a day and a lot of wind, regardless!!

I'd been to Patagonia in late October. Had good weather, no complaints there. Some of the tourist activities were just beinging to open for the season. I'd be hesitant to visit the region in September and try to go as late in October as possible.

@dianedancer, @mlgb and @planningtravel Thank you for your tips and advice. After much research we have cancelled Patagonia. But we are planning to go early next year. Looking forward to the adventures
