No VAT on your hotel stay and cheaper internal flights.

Sorry, only in Spanish at this stage.

More details, as they are made available, in further posts.

Have a great time in my country.

Thanks for posting Avrooster. An interesting, if not unexpected development. In Colombia at the moment where extrajenos already do not need to pay the VAT on hotel rooms. Unfortunately, many of the hotels do not seem to be aware of this (or choose to ignore it!) and try to charge it anyway - no receipts of course!!

Interesting that the seem to be pushing credit cards as a means of payment - to prevent tax avoidance/ USD stashing maybe? Seems that cash may no longer be king in your country.

Also interesting to see that Ryanair the Irish budget airline (already the biggest in the UK by passenger numbers) are to launch in Argentina. That should shake up the the airline industry. Have just booked a couple of flights with them in Colombia and they were less than half the price of Lantam, Avianca etc. Will see what the flying experience is like in a few days - if anything like Ryannair, not fantastic, but at these fares, who cares!

Any idea when this may happen?

Nice, for tourists. This has been in play in Uruguay for a few years...includes some restaurants and car rentals, when paid by CCs.

About crellston's "Any idea when this may happen?"

No idea, but, knowing my country, I doubt it will happen soon enough for your present trip, particularly the part about cheaper local flights.

Have a great time in my country.

AV--just going to ask that about the flights. If my Spanish served me, it looked like the floor under in-country air fares might be eliminated. Any idea when that might happen?

Your Spanish has served well, dwdvagamundo, but, as said above: "No idea (when), .....particularly the part about cheaper local flights."

Have a great time in my country.

In Chile also, if your hotel is paid with credit card in USD, or in USD cash, no VAT.

Same in Peru.

About time Argentina.
