One hour long enough layover in Lima?!

I am JUST starting to research for our trip to Chile (tickets haven't even been purchased yet) and am looking at a 1 hr 5 m layover in Lima before departing to Santiago. Will this be enough time or should I look for a longer layover time. We'll have to go through customs since we're flying direct from SFO. Is the Lima airport busy, large, hard or easy to maneuver through? We're young and can run if need be!!! Thanks for the help! I'll be posting with more questions soon! It's a 10 day trip and I'm already having a VERY hard time coming to grips with the fact that we won't be able to see everything!

www.lap.com.pe pretty easy to move around especially on LAN

www.lan.com connections can be fairly seamless

to Cusco but for me general rule of thumb in Lima

if connecting internationally 2 hours or more.

Lima is a wonderful city lots to do mirafloresperu.com

is the best area Raddison Decapolis is my fav with an

Ocean view or Sonesta Posada Del Inka priceline.com

So I might consider exploring Lima for a day or 2

To from Chile...

ONLY if you can stay in transit and this is all booked as one ticket, ie by LAN. So that if the first flight is late, then they put you on the next flight. However I will warn you that LAN is good in the air, but customer service on the ground not so much.

Just for reference, if you were arriving straight off the street for an international flight, they tell you three hours, and they mean it. Going thru customs and immigration takes roughly an hour.

PS, there is a LAN flight that starts in LAX, stops in Lima and continues to Santiago. If it's this one, you'll be fine, since it's the same plane, I believe, they can't leave til you get there!
