One Day in Lima
I have a day in Lima before heading out to Cusco. Recommendations?
I have both Marriott and Sheraton points I can use for hotels - Sheraton is north, and the Marriott is south by the water. I don't have a lot of time - 4:30 flight out - so I don't want to spend alot of time getting to/from the airport - the Marriott is an hour from the airport. Sheraton looks like a good location and not too far from the airport - but enough to see up around there? I am sure I can hop on a morning bus tour to get the lay of the land; I like to walk around and just see what there is to see and experience the culture. Suggestions please. |
Ditch the bus and explore the historic center. The core is compact in and around the Plaza de Armas and very walkable. You could easily spend most your day there. The central market is nearby and worth a look too if you're into that.

The Sheraton is a better location for sightseeing the historic center...you can even walk from there (it's a fairly interesting walk, actually). You're right, you don't have a lot of time. Maybe take a taxi there (from the Sheraton) and walk back (so you don't have to hail a street taxi).

I agree with the previous replies - staying near the historic center will put you near some of Lima's main colonial attractions, and allow you to get the most out of your short time in Lima. If you want an idea of what attractions are here, check out this list: http://www.anywhereperu.com/attracti...in-square-lima

I'm not sure what Austin Molly is promoting, because I won't click her link, but a great website for Lima is www.limaeasy.com

Thank you for all of your input - I appreciate it! Sounds like the Sheraton!
