OAT trip to Columbia?
 

We are thinking of taking the OAT trip to Columbia Fall 2016. Has anyone traveled with OAT to Columbia? If so, I would like to hear what you liked and disliked about the trip. Thank you.

I have not traveled with them to Columbia, but have to Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, and a few other places. They have been well organized, never more than 12 to 13 people, great guides. An easy way to travel to what I have considered more complicated destinations. IMHO.

Ginger50, we too have been on many trips with OAT (Vietnam, Peru, India and Adriatic) and have always had a good experience. We are trying to decide which one to do next year. Our short list includes Columbia, Nepal, Route of the Maya, and Thailand. Since you have been to Nepal and Thailand, maybe you can give some thoughts about these? We plan to travel between Sept to Dec 2016. Thanks.

I haven't been with OAT to Colombia, although I have been on other OAT trips. Looking at the itinerary, though, it is a nice sampler that will definitely keep you on the move (sometimes on very winding roads, by the way.)

Colombia is definitely an awesome place to visit--lovely people! If you like OAT's style this should be a good one. Amy, thanks for the info. I really don't know much about Columbia, (jjust startd planning this trip ) so your positive comments about the itinerary are helpful.

Just a gentle reminder (for your searches and such) that it is actually Colombia (with an o, not a u.) We're so used to "District of..." the u spelling comes naturally!

The OAT itinerary has three internal flights, which is helpful as the distances would be too great otherwise. On my trip I had a total of 13 flights, which is a bit killer, but the ones in Colombia all went well.

I think for me the most memorable part of Colombia really was the people, and to be honest I don't say that about a lot of places. :) (Introvert, I am.) But the landscape is also quite special, and Cartagena has a flavor all its own. Happy planning!

We absolutely love our trip to Nepal/Bhutan with Oat. Bhutan is such a magical place, and Nepal was just amazing. The hiking was great.we were there pre-earthquake, so I'm sure a lot has changed since then.

Thailand, also loved that trip, mainly because of our guide. Were I to go back to Thailand, I feel like it is extremely manageable on our own.

So we have narrowed it down to Nepal, Patagonia (that one just popped up on our radar), or Colombia with an 'o' ; ). We now just need to discuss the options with our friends who are joining us. Thank you for the info, everyone.
