Novotel Hotel in Cusco

Has anyone stayed at the Novotel Hotel in Cusco? It's highly recommended by our TA. We would appreciate any feedback or info about this hotel. Thank you.

We didn't stay there but I did go into see it - it's in a great location and built in the traditional interior courtyard style.

Lots of reviews on Trip Advisor -

Have a great trip!

Novotel is too modern far away from the plaza

I do not stay there beware fakes TripAdvertizer

rankings reviews all firstime no profile posters

mostly fake and/or clueless.

Best to be around the Plaza walk everywhere

www.libertador.com.pe Palacio Del Inka best under $200

on sites like directrooms.com hotelscombine.com or

www.casa-andina.com Classic right at the Plaza $100

for budget rumipunku.com balconcusco.com not that

much cheaper... unless you want to shuttle everywhere

walk long slogs through dodgy ugly places

stay away from the Novotel.

Calle San Agustin 239. From the airport, go along Avenida Velasco ASTETE until you reach Avenida 28 de Julio. Carry on along this road until you get to the crossroads with the Ovalo Pachacútec. Go past the train station and then turn right and take Avenida Tullumayo until Plaza Limacpampa. Continue around Plaza Limacpampa and then turn into Calle San Agustin. Airport: VELASCO ASTETE

web site deceptive location above

10 minutes away from the airport

look at the room photos way too modern

furnished just like the Novotel Les Halles in Paris

which I just book exterior is faky colonial.

Novotel is a nice hotel chain there are just

tonnes better places to stay at similar pricepoints...

Monasterio is the best have a look there or La Casona

for super upscale..

Thank you for your replies. Looks like a mixed review from different people.

Still trying to decide. Maybe one of the Casa Andinas. Casa Andina San Blas seems to be a somewhat difficult walk uphill.
Casa Andina Classic (right at Plaza de Armas, is it?) might not be upscale or "nice" enough. Casa Andina Private Collection - more expensive, and how is location?

The Novotel is modern, but it's built in the colonial style of every other hotel in Cusco. It's a very nice place. You would be several blocks from the plaza, but taxis are inexpensive.

Elizabeth_S Oct 11th, 2011 07:12 AM

I remember the Novotel being very close to the Plaza - at least my definition of close? Less than 500 metres? A cab would be necessary for that?

That doesn't sound too far from the Plaza at all. I think that we will stay there after all. Glad to hear that it is "a very nice place" (above).Thank you very much for your feedback.

Jeff_Costa_Rica Oct 11th, 2011 06:43 PM

I'm looking at a map. I see it's about five blocks. No, that isn't very far.

Muchas gracias! Yes, we are staying there in Jan 2012 for 4 nights.

We walked past the Casa Andinas (Cathedral) on the way to dinner one night. Lots of people were checking in and it looked pretty nice to me. The location looked perfect--no steps to get there and you are at the base of San Blas with restaurants and shops.

I don't recall seeing the Novotel.

Casa Andinas on the Plaza looked pretty dumpy to me. I went into the (drab) lobby and asked some questions about the rooms. Didn't like the answers. If you only want to spend $100/night there are far better choices. Look at some smaller, more personal places. The Private Collections are much nicer.

I was staying super upscale at the Arwana (fabulous, but pricey), but I wanted to check things out for a friend who wanted to spend less when she got to Cusco. I thought the Novatel looked great and the Liberator looked terrific as well. The Liberator location was excellent.

Thank you, BostonHarbor. We booked the Novotel after all for our 4 nights.
