New to the Forum so, sorry if this is not the right place for this. We live in Hohenau, Paraguay. We now need a visa/reciprocity tax to cross in Posadas, the ferry at Corpus and I've heard that those in Asuncion need a visa to cross at Clorinda. It everywhere now.

I also have a question. I wanted to go see the saltos moconá. Is it worth the trip? Thanks

The landscape has changed a bit after the Reciprocity Fee was first implemented.

+The fees for Canadian citizens have been consolidated into a $92 fee valid for 10 years and multiple entries.
+A few Websites now offer the Argentina Reciprocity Fee for a small service fee and simplify the application process for the traveler.
The Argentina government site changed the domain name which created a lot of confusion and chaos for a while.
We heard about particular cases where the airlines have been a bit flexible and have allowed their passengers to show the Reciprocity fee ticket in their smartphones as proof.

Chile became part of the Visa Waiver program, so no more paying the Reciprocity Fees to visit that beautiful country.

We will definitely see more changes in the future, but one thing is for sure, the Reciprocity Fee will be in effect for a while.

Hello,
My boyfriend and I are planning on travelling to South America for the 1st time in February. If anyone can answer the following questions for me that would be great! We are having a tough time with them:

1- We want to fly from the U.S. to Lima, Peru; then take a bus to Argentina and fly to the U.S. from Buenos Aires (EZE). Is this possible? Or do you HAVE to have your entry/departure be from the same place?

2- Since we are not flying directly into Argentina, but taking a bus, do we still have to pay the $160 reciprocity fee?

3- Besides a valid passport, what other documents do we need to enter/exit the country?

Thanks so much!

Not my area of expertise (if any? LOL!), but I'd say the answers are:

1) It SHOULD be possible, but the one-way plane tickets could be expensive.

2) Yes.

3) I'd say just proof you paid the reciprocity fee. Anyway, the airline is supposed NOT to let you board the plane unless you have it.

Have a great time in South America with your BF, jrnelson91.
